THE MURDER OF ANNA MAE AQUASH
Who murdered Anna Mae and when was she murdered. 1975 or 1976?
Two men were convicted but was justice served? Claims of American Indian Movement and FBI involvement leave questions along with pitbull prosecution tactics and questionable witness testimony.
There were numerous other persons of interest in this case and evidence that certainly did not reach the bar of beyond a reasonable doubt.
The Crime
Anna Mae Aquash was found in a ditch in South Dakota in February 1976. Two autopsies later showed that she had died by an execution style gun shot to the back of the head. But how was it originally missed?
The Evidence
The evidence was sparse and unreliable for years, yet decades later, multiple men and a woman would be brought to trial. Decades old memories and conflicting stories about what really happened.
The Outcome
John received a life sentence without parole while his co-convicted was paroled for cooperating with the prosecution. But, if John’s extradition was unlawful, where does the case go from here?
